The former Triple M Fabrication building on Broadway Street in Belgrade has been leased to a Bozeman-based collective planning a membership-based makerspace called Forge & Foundry. The 12,000-square-foot industrial building sold in March for $1.8 million to a holding company registered to a Jackson, Wyoming address.

Triple M Fabrication operated at the location for 34 years before owner Mike Montoya retired in December. Montoya confirmed the sale price but declined to comment on the new tenant. The building includes three-phase power, two overhead cranes, and a paint booth installed in 2003.

Forge & Foundry founder Derek Vance said the space will offer woodworking, metalworking, ceramics, and digital fabrication equipment to members starting at $375 per month. Day passes will be available for $45. Vance said the collective has raised $850,000 in build-out capital from investors in Bozeman, Big Sky, and Austin, Texas.

“We’re preserving the industrial character while creating access for the creative economy,” Vance said. “The cranes stay. The paint booth becomes a kiln room. It’s heritage adaptive reuse.”

Monthly membership does not include materials, storage, or after-hours access, which requires a $125 upgrade. Founding memberships sold out in June at $2,500 each. The waitlist stands at 47 names.

Belgrade Planning Department records show a change-of-use permit filed July 14 for “light industrial to assembly/education.” The application lists 18 parking spaces. Forge & Foundry projects 120 members by year-end.

Montoya’s former foreman, Carlos Ruiz, now works at a fabrication shop in Three Forks. He said he looked at the membership pricing. “I build stock tanks and cattle guards,” Ruiz said. “Three seventy-five a month is a truck payment.”

Forge & Foundry plans a soft opening September 2. Grand opening coincides with Belgrade Fall Festival weekend.
