The Spin Cycle on Broadway Avenue closed Sunday after 34 years. The building sold Tuesday for $1.4 million to Willow Creek Holdings LLC, which filed permits for a “holistic wellness marketplace” called Root & Vessel.

Owner Marlene Haskins, 71, said she listed the property in March after her dryer repairman retired. “I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to fix Maytags from the nineties,” she said. “The offers came fast. Most were storage guys. This one had a pitch deck.”

The 4,200-square-foot space will feature a tincture bar, infrared sauna memberships starting at $275 monthly, and a “community gathering hearth” where the folding tables sat. Plans show twelve parking spaces. The laundromat had twenty.

Broker Tate Hensley of Peak Commercial represented the buyer. He described the concept as “accessible luxury for the modern valley resident.” The listing highlights walkability to the new pickleball complex on the former hay field across the street.

Longtime customer Darryl Pruitt, a welder who lives in a rental on Second Street, watched the final load spin on Sunday. “My dryer quit in January,” he said. “I been coming here twice a week since. Guess I’ll drive to the one on Jackrabbit now. Or buy a membership to sweat in the same room my coveralls used to tumble.”

Haskins said she wishes the new owners well. She plans to winter in Yuma with her sister. The sauna memberships go on sale Friday. A grand opening is scheduled for September 12.
