The Cottonwood Grange #442 hosts its annual bear awareness gathering Saturday. Longtime residents and first-season renters alike will share casseroles while reviewing the same three safety principles everyone already follows: make noise, carry spray, don’t run. A Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks warden will demonstrate proper deployment using an inert canister and a volunteer in a foam grizzly suit. Last year’s volunteer, Dale Henderston, returns by popular demand. “He really commits to the charge,” said organizer Merna Pruitt. Children welcome. Please label dishes containing nuts or elk.
