The Grange Hall opens its doors at 6 p.m. for the monthly community square dance, which this month shares the calendar with a county planning board variance hearing for the 40-unit workforce housing project breaking ground behind the rodeo grounds. Organizers say the overlap was not intentional but reflects the valley’s evolving rhythm. Folding chairs will be arranged in concentric circles so dancers can do-si-do while residents testify about setback requirements and water rights.

“We’ve always made room for everyone,” said Grange master Dale Harkin, adjusting his bolo tie. “Tonight we just make room at the same time.” Refreshments provided by the women’s auxiliary.
