Regarding the new “Luxury” shed on Main

I drove past that new development on Main Street yesterday, the one they are calling the “Artisan Lofts,” and noticed they have installed a very sleek, modern bicycle rack right in front of the window. I am concerned because there are no actual bicycles locked to it, which makes the whole street look rather empty. If we are going to have high-end living in Belgrade, we really should encourage the residents to own bicycles so the racks don’t look so lonely. I’ve lived here twenty years and I’ve never seen such a clean sidewalk. It really stands out against the dirt.

The Co-op parking lot dynamics

I would like to gently suggest that we implement a traffic signal or perhaps a roundabout inside the Co-op parking lot. Every morning at 8:00 a.m., I watch three different Subaru Outbacks perform a slow-motion dance while trying to back out simultaneously. Everyone is being very polite, waiting for the other person to move first, which results in all of us just sitting there with our blinkers on for ten minutes. It is a lovely display of community spirit, but I would like to get my sourdough bread before it goes stale. Let’s decide on a priority system soon.

The wind is blowing my fence away

I see a lot of new folks moving into town, which is nice, but I feel they should be warned about the fence situation. I’ve lived in Livingston for forty years, and I’ve learned that a fence isn’t really a boundary here; it’s more of a suggestion. My neighbor recently built a beautiful, tall cedar fence to keep his garden private. Last Tuesday, the wind relocated most of it into my backyard. I have been slowly returning the pickets to him, one by one. It’s a great way to meet the new people, provided you can hear them over the gusts.
