Bozeman residents are buzzing with a mix of excitement and apprehension following the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony for newly accessible land along the Gallatin River. Local officials, joined by representatives from the “Friends of Scenic Access” organization, officially opened the 3-acre “Tranquility Tangle” river island to public use this past Tuesday.

The island, previously only reachable by strong swimmers or a daring leap over some remarkably sturdy driftwood, is now accessible via a newly constructed wooden footbridge. “We really believe in providing opportunities for everyone to enjoy our beautiful waterways,” stated Commissioner Brenda Peterson at the dedication, cutting a ceremonial rope made of recycled fishing line.
