Corinne Delaney, 74, died peacefully at home on July 29 after a brief illness. She moved to Bozeman in 1993 for a teaching position at Hawthorne Elementary and never left, though she threatened to every time a new coffee shop opened on Main Street.

She taught third grade for twenty-five years and could still name every student from her 1998 class, along with which ones now drive lifted trucks and which ones work at the Co-op. Corinne measured the town’s growth in lost parking spaces and the disappearance of the corner store where she bought her morning paper.

Her children, Mara and Toby, grew up skiing Bridger Bowl and hiking the M before it had a formal trailhead. They both live in Belgrade now, where the math still works for a mortgage, and they visit every Sunday for dinner and a debrief on what changed this week.

Corinne voted in every school board election since 1994 and wrote exactly one letter to the editor, in 2007, about the roundabout on 19th. She considered the matter settled.
