I keep hearing people complain about the price of a breakfast burrito downtown. Honestly, I think those folks are missing the big picture. When I pay twenty-two dollars for eggs, chorizo, and a handful of potatoes wrapped in foil, I’m not just buying lunch; I’m investing in the spirit of this valley.
My truck payment is a bit behind, sure, but that’s just a temporary hurdle in a long-term plan to ski eighty days a year. If we keep the burritos expensive, it keeps the town exclusive and authentic, which is exactly why I moved here in 2018. If a burrito cost five dollars, everyone would want one, and then where would we be? We’d be just like anywhere else. I’m happy to work my second shift at the gear shop to keep our local economy properly priced. It’s a small, salty price to pay for the lifestyle.
