The Bobcats opened the season Saturday with a 24-17 win over Portland State at Bobcat Stadium. The offensive line did not allow a sack and sprang three runs of fifteen yards or more. Coach Miller said after the game that the line held, which is the only statistic he tracks.

Senior left tackle Derek Hovland played every snap on an ankle he tweaked in August. He said the line just does its job and lets the skill guys get the glory. The skill guys agreed, mostly.

Portland State brought pressure from the edge all afternoon. The Bobcats adjusted with tight end chips and quick throws to the flat. The line held its ground on third and short twice in the fourth quarter to ice the game.

A group of season ticket holders in section 104 noted that the new condo tower beyond the south end zone catches the late sun just right. They have said this every home game since the tower went up. The view used to be the Bridgers.

The Bobcats host Sacramento State next Saturday. The line will hold, or it will not. Everything else is commentary.
