Local Man Injured by Errant Cairn on M Trail

A local man sustained a minor injury last Tuesday evening on the M Trail after what he described as an “unprovoked cairn-based incident.” Mr. Chet Pronghorn, 47, of Bozeman, was enjoying a sunset hike when he was reportedly struck by a small stack of rocks.

“I was just admiring the view, thinking about how many new Subarus were parked at the trailhead,” Pronghorn recounted from his porch swing, a small bandage visible on his forehead. “Then, out of nowhere, this cairn just, well, it unwound itself. Next thing I know, I’m face-to-face with a rather pointy piece of granite.”
