Four Corners self storage adds pickleball court for tenants

Four Corners Self Storage on Jackrabbit Lane has added a regulation pickleball court between Building C and the RV covered parking. Owner Dale Henthorn said the court came from tenant feedback. “People store their paddles here anyway,” Henthorn said. “Might as well let them use them.”

The facility opened in 2019 on land that grew malt barley until the irrigation rights sold. Henthorn bought the acreage from the Whitaker family, who still run cattle on the bench above the interstate. The court surface is post-tension concrete with acrylic coating. Lighting is LED, motion-activated, dark-sky compliant.

Pickleball league expands to former tennis courts at Bogert Park

The Bozeman Pickleball Association added six courts at Bogert Park this week, converting the tennis surface that hosted city championships through the nineties. Volunteers taped the kitchen lines at 6 a.m. Tuesday while dew still clung to the chain link.

Association president Marlene Haskins, 72, watched the rollers smooth the acrylic with the focus of a line coach studying film. “The kitchen holds or the game folds,” she said, tapping her paddle against her knee. “Same as the line of scrimmage. You control that fourteen feet, you control the tempo.”

Big Sky adds pickleball courts to town center park hoping

Big Sky’s new pickleball courts at Town Center Park opened last Saturday with a ribbon cutting attended by both populations standing on opposite sides of the net. The four courts were funded by a resort tax grant intended to create shared recreational space. By Sunday morning two separate leagues had already organized themselves without any formal discussion.

The morning league consists mostly of retirees who bought condos near Lone Mountain in the late nineties. They play in matching visors and refer to the sport as “good movement.” The evening league wears performance fabrics from brands that sponsor professional athletes. They track their DUPR ratings on phones between points.
