The annual Last Chance Stampede, held this year at the newly christened “Cool Alley Arena at The Gallatin Gateway Landing,” brought a familiar dust to the Bozeman air, albeit a little closer to the newly paved access roads. Montanans, and those who have recently become Montanans, gathered to watch steers and broncos test the mettle of local cowboys and cowgirls. The event, celebrating its 66th year, felt both timeless and, in some ways, remarkably contemporary.
